Milagros are folk charms traditionally used for healing purposes and as offerings in Mexico, Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and the southern United States. Milagros come in a variety of shapes and dimensions and are fabricated from many different materials such as tin, copper, silver, gold, bone or wax. This class will explore a brief history of Milagros and focus on metalworking and forming techniques for students to make their own Milagros. Knowledge of sawing, filing and soldering is required. Basic supplies will be provided; extra materials will be discussed in class. Recommended for intermediate – advanced students.
